Chelsea True and Dre Antono will be getting married on May 4-6, 2018 at Camp Pinnacle in Western North Carolina, outside Asheville. We invite all of our guests to stay in cabins with us for the weekend! However, there are nearby hotels for those who are not interested in cabin life. Whichever accommodation option you choose, all guests are welcome to come to camp to mingle and partake in camp activities. Guests are coming from near and far, so get excited for campfires, paddle boarding, swimming and other fun activities. Activities will be planned throughout the weekend, so get off that couch and come along!
If you are unable to celebrate our wedding with us, we ask that you still kindly visit the RSVP tab on and let us know! It will help us tremendously as we try to arrange cabin accommodations and meals for our guests. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you in May!
How We Met
This story may differ slightly depending on who tells it, but here goes our best attempt at collaboration! Whether you are Team Chelsea or Team Dre, you have likely heard of Bike and Build. In fact, many of you reading this story donated to our fundraising pages back in 2011 or 2012, and several of you shared that cross-country journey with us as our teammates.
In 2013, Chelsea had just graduated from Quinnipiac University and was set to move to North Carolina to start working at the Federal Prison there. Luckily, Bike and Build had always been known to have supportive alumni networks throughout the country. Chelsea, never having visited the state of NC, reached out to the Bike & Build alumni in the area for places to live and general pointers about her new home.
At that time, Dre had graduated from NC State and began working at Habitat for Humanity in Raleigh and also at a Laotian restaurant called Bida Manda. Being a Bike & Build addict, Dre quickly responded to Chelsea's message. They talked a bit about North Carolina and Dre arranged for Chelsea to meet his Bike & Build friend, who was coincidentally searching for potential housemates. For the sake of convenience, Dre suggested that they meet at Bida Manda before one of his shifts, so he could introduce them to each other. This Bida Manda meeting at Table #2 was indeed the first time Dre met Chelsea in person. He then had to leave this meeting to start his shift, but not without sending Chelsea a special dessert platter to commemorate her move to the Old North State. Dre had asked Chef Lon to write "Welcome to NC" on the dessert plate. Chelsea remembers calling her mom later that night to tell her about the nice gesture, but not much more.
Our First Date
As the months passed, Chelsea and Dre started going on several adventures together. They started going on bike rides with other Bike & Build alumni in the area. Their flexible schedules would allow for random adventures near and far - Bida Manda's staff trip to the Carolina Mudcats game, camping at Grandfather Mountain, and even a day trip to hike and see the wild ponies at Grayson Highlands in Virginia! Their shared their first kiss on the way back from the Carolina Mudcats game. If you asked Dre, he would tell you that the moment was just right and that the kiss could not have been more romantic. Chelsea would tell you the truth: that a bus full of inebriated peers would not stop chanting "kiss her" until the deed was done. Regardless, we thank the Bida Manda family for the subtle nudge that sparked our relationship. Since then, the couple has travelled together to Ecuador, The Galapagos Islands, and Glacier National Park. They really have not stopped adventuring since!
A New Life Together
It is hard to believe that it has been nearly four years since we started this relationship. Four very eventful years. Chelsea was the one who drove Dre to his medical school interview at UNC. She was also there to celebrate with him when he got accepted. Dre supported Chelsea through her tough work at the Federal Prison. He also tried to bring some cheer over the phone during Chelsea's time in Liberia treating Ebola patients. Through these years, we've realized that we make a pretty good team! They got engaged on March 3, 2017 during a ski trip to Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia. So... although we've probably already written you a "Thank You" note for your past donations to our philanthropic projects, we would like to offer our thanks once more. This time, our sincerest gratitude is not just for supporting Bike & Build, but especially for helping us connect and find each other. Without our friends and family, this union would not be possible!
